Being that rift is talking about dynamic content and such I would hope they have this type of thing built into the game. Being able to tie quests or various parts of the game into these cycles adds one more level of immersion.

But the time of the day to be like 2 hours and then 2 hours night ,that will work ok i think. I remember my first toon that I rolled in EQ1 was a human and night time actually felt like night time; it added to the immersion. If I remember correctly, early in my warrior's life he rolled with a rusty shortsword in one hand and a fire beetle eye in the other.

I later rolled a dark elf with night vision and I could actually see at night! A fair trade off for having all the other races hate me. There is a day and night cycle. It is 7 hours day, 7 hours night. So far, it feels comfortable, but that's just me. No time specific mobs or quests are known. I hope they reduce it a tiny bit i would say 5 would be perfect.
