Overview Summary Second Ward is a neighborhood in Houston. When I enrolled my daughter in Aug '10 I was excited.

I was commuting over an hour to get her to this school. The principal was fired from the school because the school was not anywhere close to meeting the standards. The teachers are too worried about weather they will be keeping their jobs to even care about educating the kids. They bring in a new principal who wants to enforce changes one month before school ends. WTH do they think that our kids education is a joke?! She is trying to enfore attendance when in reality they should be worried about teaching.

Parents strated caring very little because they saw that our kids were NOT learning a thing. ALL grades are behind academically! Needless to say, my daughter is not going back to this school and while speaking to other parents I can already count about 20 who are not sending their kids back to this school.

Parents try to be involved and are not allowed. The only teachers who care are their music teachers. They are very dedicated but what's the point if our kids cant even read?! Parent Review 10y ago. The Rusk School. My son moved from a small private school to Rusk in 6th grade. It was an easy transition for him because of the small class sizes, teachers who truly care about the academics they are teaching my son and the administration that supports the academic learning environment.

Parent Review 2y ago. Cage Elementary School. Wonderful experience! My husband and I attended this school as well as my two daughters. One went on to Chrysalis Intermediate next door and love that it was only students so she had a lot of one on one assistance from her teachers. Burnet Elementary School.

We have had a great experience at Burnet, our son is advanced for his age and the teachers do a good job of differentiating the material for him. He is challenged by the dual language program which is a benefit for him. He is also exposed to students of all different backgrounds and abilities which has been great in helping him learn to interact with different kinds of people.
